Colin Hanks and Bradley WhitfordHere's a little ditty about Jack and Dan, two American cops doing the best that they can. Apologies to John Mellencamp, but 'Jack and Dan,' a new action comedy from Fox, has found its leads: Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hanks, who is the son of beloved Hollywood icon Tom Hanks, will play Jack, a straight-laced detective in the Los Angeles Police Department whose ambitions have been thwarted by his own mistakes. Whitford will play his new partner Dan, a loose cannon whose drinking and womanizing are only tolerated because of an act of heroism earlier in his career.Colin Hanks and Bradley WhitfordHere's a little ditty about Jack and Dan, two American cops doing the best that they can. The series, which has been given a 13 episode order, is being helmed by Matt Nix, the creator of USA's hit series 'Burn Notice'. It is expected that 'Jack and Dan' will follow that show's formula of mixing drama with hijinks, which should suit both actors just fine; Hanks' career includes credits on such opposites as 'Mad Men' and 'The House Bunny', while Whitford juggled similar responsibilities in the short lived dramedy 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip'.
