If you haven't checked out 'United States of Tara' yet, now would be a good time to do that. Season 2 of the Showtime series is set to premiere March 22, 2010. Plenty of time to get caught up with season 1. Created by Diablo Cody ('Juno'), the show scored six Emmy wins earlier this year, including Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for Toni Collette. If anyone can play four personalities in the same body, it's Collette. And scoring a part like this must be like striking gold for an actress. Here's a little primer on the many faces of Tara:
- Tara: A working mom of two who paints nursery room murals.
- Alice: A perfect homemaker who bakes cakes that would make Bree Hodge jealous.
- Buck: A beer-swilling, chopper-riding Vietnam vet who doesn't mind kicking ass.
- T: An edgy, pot-smoking teen who loves stealing lip gloss from the drugstore.
John Corbett, Brie Larson, Keir Gilchrist and Rosemarie DeWitt round out the cast. The show scored an early renewal after averaging 2.67 million viewers per week, giving Showtime its highest ratings since 2004.
Season 1 is available via On Demand right now, and you can also download it from iTunes, Amazon or Blockbuster. The DVD will be released Dec. 29, 2009.
