In an interview with Sway Calloway of MTV News, Chris Brown said he continues to struggle with the public's perception of him after beating R&B singer Rihanna in a case of domestic abuse which took place earlier in the year on Feb. 7. "I'm confused, right now, as far as the public perception," said Brown. "I think, with my fans, they still love me. They support me. Definitely, you have those people that don't support you. It's kind of fifty-fifty to me."

Browns claims to have difficulty dealing with the public's reaction to his much-publicized incident. He says: "I mean, I'm human. I show my feelings on my sleeve like everybody else ... It hurts ... I haven't gotten past this stage of being able to take people's negative comments and things and be, like, 'Oh, I'm not worried about that.' It hurts."
However, Brown says he realizes the altercation with Rihanna was indeed a mistake and that he hopes to learn from it. "If I go somewhere and I just hear somebody be rude about it, it's just like, 'Man, it's a mistake. I made a big mistake I'm learning from.'"
