What to Watch: November 9 - 15

by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 9th 2009 2:00AM

The Giller Prize, November 10, 9 pm ET, Bravo/BookTV

Seamus O'Regan hosts Canadian literature's most glamourous night, where five books are on the short-list for the prize. Winning can translate into a huge sales spike, not to mention joining the ranks of Margaret Atwood and MG Vassanji. Actors Hugh Dillon ('Flashpoint') and Rachelle Lefevre ('Twilight') are among the presenters.

Also This Week:

FlashForward - November 12, 8 pm, A/ABC

Mark gets a tip on the tattooed assassin seen in his flashforward. Meanwhile, Aaron learns the truth about Tracy's deadly accident. The best part - Simon and Lloyd settle their differences with a game of poker. Scenery, prepare to be chewed.

The Gemini Awards - November 14, 9 pm, Global

Ron James jumps networks to host the Gemini Awards live from Calgary. Lots of nominations this year for 'Flashpoint', 'Being Erica', 'The Tudors' and 'Sanctuary'. I'm rooting for my high school compatriot Robin Dunne, nominated for best lead actor in a continuing dramatic role. (Boy, these categories could use some work!)

Life - November 15, 8 pm ET/9 pm PT, Discovery/Discovery HD

This doc series is the ultimate in classy viewing - it took four years to make, it comes from BBC and Sir David Attenborough narrates. In the vein of 'March of the Penguins', the romance, drama and tragedy of surviving long enough to pass on some DNA is heavily emphasized.
