Sarah Palin's first interview on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' takes place on Monday, Nov. 16, and let's just hope the chair is comfortable ... because the room might not be.

Sarah Palin, former vice presidential candidate and everybody's favorite "average hockey mom," will have a lot to discuss. It was recently reported her daughter's ex-boyfriend and father of her grandson, Levi Johnston, finished his highly publicized 'Playgirl' shoot with a hockey stick. (Seriously, a real one -- no euphemisms here.) Just think, even your worst Thanksgiving has nothing on what the Palins' home will be like this year.

Oprah didn't even let the hot seat cool down for too long before she posted this You Tube video detailing what to expect when she sits down with the former vice-presidential candidate on Monday. For some of you who still don't understand the big deal, we offer a Palin-Oprah primer:

• In August 2008, presidential candidate John McCain announced that he had chosen then Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin to run alongside him for Vice President.
• In September 2009, Oprah made a public announcement that she would not use her show as a platform for any candidates, although she had been an open supporter of Barack Obama -- who had been on her show twice, in both 2005 and 2006, before announcing his bid for the Presidency.
• Immediately after making her announcement, Oprah received criticism for not recognizing the feat of Sarah Palin running for vice president, on a show that primarily appeals to a female audience.
• Oprah released a statement saying, "I agree Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
• Sarah Palin then scheduled an interview on 'CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,' which quickly became a turning point in the arena of Palin public opinion. According to her upcoming book 'Going Rogue,' Palin suggests she only did the interview out of female camaraderie, that in fact Katie Couric suffers from low self-esteem and needed the interview. Watch the clip below to see why people speculate the interview was the last nail in the coffin for her VP bid.

• November 2008: The McCain/Palin campaign conceded defeat to Obama/Biden.
• Ethics complaints were filed against Palin in light of the publicity gained from running for office.
• In July 2009, Sarah Palin resigned as governor of Alaska even though her term was through the end of the year. She cited that had she stayed in office, she would have been a lame duck governor, unable to do the job she was elected to do.
Speculation began that she had an offer preventing her from staying in office.
• Palin's memoir, 'Going Rogue: An American Life' -- originally slated for a 2010 launch date -- was moved up to November 17, 2009.
• in October 2009 it was confirmed by 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' that Palin was booked as a guest for the Nov. 16 broadcast in support of 'Going Rogue.'
• November 2009: Oprah went on YouTube to discuss what it was like to tape the sit-down interview with Palin, which airs next Monday.

So now that you're somewhat up to speed, join in the fun when we live blog this momentous occasion on Monday at 4PM ET! See you then.
