If you want to take a trip to Paradise Estate or Dream Valley, get ready to ride: More than 25 years after Hasbro introduced the ultimate reason for pre-tween girls to jump up and down shrieking, "They are so cute!" a new TV venture is saddling up to put a 'My Little Pony' series into its stable.Per the Hollywood Reporter, Hasbro Studios -- a collaboration between the legendary game and toy manufacturer and the Discovery Channel -- is betting on 'My Little Pony' for its first successful production. Presumably most of the colorful, valiant and courageous equines beloved by legions of girls (and adult collectors) would appear in the show, including Pinkie Pie, Toola-Roola, Rainbow Dash, Sweetie Belle the unicorn and Starsong, a pegasus.

Demos indicate that kids today are lapping up 'My Little Pony' as much as they did a quarter-century ago. THR, for example, reports that the Hasbro-Discovery Powers That Be were duly impressed with the ratings for 'My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure,' which aired on the Disney Channel last week. Of course, a tube triumph for the heavenly horses wouldn't exactly be something new: The brand generated an immensely popular animated version back in the 1980s that continues to air in the U.S. and UK, a four-DVD set remains a top seller, and the pack of 'My LIttle Pony' specials have always been a mane event for kids.
As for whether there will be subsidiary products associated with the series -- like Hasbro-made toys and games -- we will only say this: That. Ain't. Hay.
