Julianne Hough to leave 'Dancing with the Stars.' The tango might be tough without Julianne Hough.

The cha-cha's kind of rough without Julianne Hough.

No, those are not new lyrics to Julianne's latest country single, but our way of emphasizing major 'Dancing With the Stars' news: Hough, dancing veteran on the show, will not be returning for its 10th season.

Hough confirmed the news Tuesday morning on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, saying "I'm not [going back] next season. But I love that show."

As for season 11, Hough added "we're going to cross that bridge when we get to that."Julianne Hough to leave 'Dancing with the Stars.' The tango might be tough without Julianne Hough.

Did Hough make the right call in skipping out on another season of 'Dancing'? We say yes. I mean, let's face it: When you're barely 21-years-old and ABC's '20/20' has already deemed you "the best dancer on the planet," where else do you go? Are there dance studios on the Moon?

Not that Hough is going to retire anytime soon. Unlike most television stars, Hough has been successful in parlaying her fame on 'Dancing' into other entertainment fields. When her self-titled record debuted at number one on the Billboard Country Albums Charts last year, she quickly proved herself to be not only a dancer, but a country music star as well (take that, Jessica Simpson!)

Soon, Hough will also dance her way onto the big screen. She's been tapped to star as Ariel in a remake of the famous '80s dance flick 'Footloose,' opposite Chace Crawford, and will appear in the upcoming film 'Burlesque,' with Cher and Christina Aguilera.

No one can blame Hough for striking while the iron is hot. Dancing has launched the careers of many famous celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez. Lopez began her career as a Fly Girl on 'In Living Color' and quickly transitioned into movies and music. Heck, she even bagged herself a famous hubby, aka Marc Anthony (we wonder: is "J-Ho" the next J-Lo?).

Don't worry, though: 'Dancing With the Stars' will not be completely Hough-less: Brother Derek -- who joined the series in its fifth season -- will still appear on the show.
