Less than a month after announcing it was going to cancel 'Trauma', NBC has had a change of heart. Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood reported Thursday that the network would be continuing it's original order for the series and plans an additional order for a few more episodes.

Production costs for Peter Berg's 'Trauma' were reportedly high, and the initial ratings for the show had been lackluster. In its series premiere it drew 6.9 million viewers and a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic, but had maintained less than a 2.0 rating before word of its cancellation was confirmed. The show was also heavily criticized by the emergency medical services community for portraying EMT workers inaccurately.
According to Finke, a recent jump in ratings -- and beating its lead-in 'Heroes' -- breathed new life into the series. However, this may not bode well for 'Heroes' and other shows in the NBC lineup.
