'Lost' executive producer Carlton Cuse confirmed in a tweet yesterday that Rebecca Mader -- whose character, anthropologist Charlotte Lewis, died onscreen last season -- has returned to the cast for the sixth and final season. Team 'Lost' has taken pains so far not to leak or use in promos any new footage from season 6, lest even modest spoilers reveal the nature of the final season's plot arc. So, what does Cuse's eagerness to tout Mader's return mean? Did Charlotte, who apparently expired from time-travel sickness, not actually die? Will she be seen only in flashbacks? Or (as is widely believed), did the nuclear explosion at the end of season 5 reset the show's tricky timeline, creating an alternate timeline in which Charlotte survives?

That scenario seems increasingly likely, according to SciFiWire, which has spoken in recent days to both Elizabeth Mitchell and Dominic Monaghan, whose 'Lost' characters Juliet and Charlie also died in earlier episodes. Mitchell (currently starring in ABC's 'V') told SciFiWire that she was going back to Hawaii this month to shoot more 'Lost' scenes, while Monaghan (who has a key role on ABC's 'FlashForward') told SciFiWire that he's been in talks with 'Lost' co-creator Damon Lindelof about coming back.

Plus, ABC, in announcing yesterday that the new 'Lost' season would premiere on Feb. 2 and would air on Tuesday nights at 9PM, also confirmed the return of Emilie de Ravin, whose character Claire has been MIA and is also presumed dead.

What do you think Mader's return means, 'Lost'-ies? Speculate away!
