Oprah to Interview Barack Obama for ABC Christmas Special

For the first time since his inauguration last January, Oprah Winfrey will do a televised sit-down interview with President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, at the White House.

Called 'Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special,' the program will air on Sun., Dec. 13, at 10PM EST. Winfrey endorsed Barack Obama for the nation's highest office at the peak of the 2008 campaign, marking her first foray into electoral politics. It was a move seen at the time as risky, one putting her fan base at risk of fracturing along partisan lines.

Since her endorsement of Obama, Winfrey has taken pains to furnish air time on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' to prominent figures from the Republican side of the political aisle. On Nov. 16, for example, Winfrey welcomed Sarah Palin, the 2008 vice-presidential candidate and former governor of Alaska, to her couch as part of the publicity onslaught tied to Palin's new memoir ,'Going Rogue.'

Recently, Oprah announced that her show will end in 2011 after 25 years on the air.
