White House Party Crashers 'Today' Interview: "We Were Invited, Not Crashers" (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Dec 1st 2009 11:59AM
Tareq and Michaele Salahi, who allegedly crashed a White House state dinner, broke their silence on 'Today' this morning. While largely keeping mum due to an ongoing Secret Service investigation, the couple claimed that they've been misjudged by the media, and that they were in fact invited to the dinner held on Nov. 24.

The Salahis, who are aspiring reality-TV stars from Northern Virginia, said they are "saddened' and "shocked" by the way they've been portrayed by the media. "We've been mischaracterized through the media and other paparazzi forums," Tareq Salahi said. "Our homes have been invaded ... Our lives have been destroyed."

"We were invited, not crashers," Michaele Salahi said. 'There isn't anyone that would have the audacity or the poor behavior to do that."

The Salahis indicated they're in possession of e-mails showing they had a right to attend the bash. They hope to present the documentation to exonerate themselves in the coming days as the official investigation into their alleged party crashing continues.
