Matt Houston might be coming to DVD next year

Matt HoustonIt's funny how shows you didn't think would ever be released are suddenly released on DVD. Case in point: Matt Houston, the series from the early '80s that starred Lee Horsley as a Texas-born private eye. Yes, his last name was Houston and he was born in Texas. It's always great when your last name is also the name of a city in your state. Maybe the show didn't trust viewers enough to know that even though he lives in Los Angeles HE'S A COWBOY.

TVShowsOnDVD is reporting that the show is going to come out on DVD some time in 2010.

I haven't seen the show since it was on ABC (it's not the type of show that has been syndicated and I haven't even thought of the show enough to look for it online), but I remember really loving the show when I was a teen. But who knows, it could be one of those shows where you watch it and say "what the hell? I actually loved this?" Speaking of Horsley, wasn't there supposed to be a sequel to The Sword and the Sorcerer? I loved that movie too.

I believe this is the intro from the last season of the show once ABC decided to revamp the show by removing all the humor from the first couple of seasons and turning it into a dull Magnum lite wannabe overacted run of the mill detective show.

I remember watching this a lot. It came on Friday nights at 10PM. Then Miami Vice came along. While it didn't beat Houston during its firts season on air, Vice found its audience during summer repeats. Audiences started to watch it, and by the fall(in its seacond season), Vice was now a ratings juggernaut. That was the end of Houston.
