Review: Eastwick - Tasers and Mind Erasers

Eastwick
(S01E09) "Do you remember what happened to Gloria that day? Because I do. We both have our secrets, Bun. I'll keep yours if you keep mine." - Darryl

Well, darn. As I mentioned last week, Eastwick keeps getting better and better. This week's episode was the best yet! Funny, dramatic, good characters, and some tense action at the end. And the best part is that the witches are finally realizing their powers and using them for good. If the series continued, we might see that they'd be tempted to use their powers for more nefarious purpose.

We also saw Darryl get a little more evil-ish with Bun. It made me realize that perhaps he's not the gadabout town guy who just loves women and being a big-shot. Then again, maybe he's not as bad a guy as I think (see above quote).

When Darryl appeals to Kat about healing Greta, he says, "I know powerful women, and you are an extraordinarily powerful woman. In fact, you may, be the most powerful of all."

He also tells her she can control it and use it to do incredible things, and that she has to accept her destiny. "You have the power to perform miracles," he says. You get the feeling he'll help these women build up their powers, and then maybe use them for not so good purposes.

Other things that could happen if Eastwick continued:

  • Joanna and Max getting together.
  • Jamie helping the witches after learning more about his mom.
  • Roxie connecting with her mom (ok, we got some of that tonight).

I really loved the last few minutes, with the witches all working together to find Mia, pull her out of the ice, and bring her back to life. Also, the scene where Kat realizes she needs an emotional connection to the person in order to heal her, so Darryl starts telling her about Greta.

Great show! Are you sad to see Eastick go?

Me and my friends are faithful viewers. I know I wait all week to see Eastwick. It helps me get through the week. I hope they will at least put the first (and only) season on dvd, I would definately buy it. Too bad. I wish there was some way we could make them change their minds about cancelling the show.

Isn't there a cable channel that will pick up this show? It is too good to lose. I haven't been this upset about a cancellation since Veronica Mars.

I just heard about the cancellation of Eastwick. My favorite show along with twelve of my other friends. We waited all week to watch it. Just when they get a great show and cast..... what are they going to do put on more moronic reality shows? Who's in charge of these lame decisions???????? Bad move! So furious!!

Almost my exact words when I told my daughter about the cancellation. Eastwick is (was) delightful entertainment; smart script, talented cast and a story-line bursting with possibilties. We are bitterly disappointed with this reactive decision which, after all, is based on the numbers game and today's viewers' lack of imagination. Hope another network picks it up.

Never watched the show; Reviewers never liked it, and with so many shows on now, It was not worth it to pile another show on. Also, it didn't interest me either......

Yes! I can't believe it's been cancelled. The stories have gotten really good.

Though I'm not surprised, given the increasing amount of amazingly stupid decisions networks have been taking lately, I'm very disappointed. I miss having a witches' show on TV, and this one was good enough that I still don't understand how it didn't get enough viewers... Defying Gravity was an even better show and it just got axed, too, so... If those hotshots are lacking working neurones we could, perhaps, organize a fund-raising to get them some, couldn't we?
