Cynthia Cidre to Write TNT's 'Dallas' Remake
Watch out, J.R.: 'Dallas' is officially back. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that TNT and producer Warner Horizon are working on a remake of the '80s staple, with 'Cane''s Cynthia Cidre on tap to write it.
Cidre created and served as executive producer on 'Cane,' the story of a Cuban-American family and its successful Florida-based rum and sugar cane business. The Sept. 2007 series premiere was huge for CBS, bringing in 11 million viewers; however, the show got lost in the shuffle during the 2007-08 WGA strike and, after going on hiatus to accommodate mid-season replacements, died in May 2008.

Though keeping busy with the A&E pilot 'Danny Fricke,' and writing 'Mambo Kings,' Cidre will no doubt be eager to take a stab at the new 'Dallas.' The script will likely revolve around J.R. and Sue Ellen's son, John Ross, along with Pam's son, Christopher.
Sources say that the network and studio are waiting to read Cidre's take before making any final decisions, but have reportedly approached the original Bobby, Patrick Duffy, and with Larry Hagman (J.R.) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen) about the remake. Still, the studio is hesitant to confirm whether or not they will actually take part.
The original 'Dallas' ran from 1979 to 1991 and told the story of the Ewing family and their oil and cattle ranch money There have since been two 'Dallas' reunion movies, in 1996 and 1998.
AOL TV also named 'Dallas' one of the 10 best shows of the '70s. Check out our full list here.
