'The Doctors' Discuss So-Called 'Blackberry Thumb' (VIDEO)

Text addicts can breathe a sigh of relief: According to 'The Doctors,' there's nothing yet that conclusively proves the existence of the condition "Blackberry Thumb." It's been argued that the condition is a repetitive stress injury caused by excessive use of handheld devices, and that pain in the wrist and thumb, and even osteoarthritis, can result.

It's been argued that the condition is a repetitive stress injury caused by excessive use of handheld devices, and that pain in the wrist and thumb, and even osteoarthritis, can result.
However, the panel of doctors on the show points out that no long-term studies have been done to definitively link texting on handheld devices and the modern-day condition.
