'Blue' had been on the bubble, with TNT officials contemplating what has become a pretty crowded drama roster for 2010.

However, with the recent pick-up of NBC castoff 'Southland' -- which premieres on TNT in January -- the network now has two gritty cop dramas that compliment each other nicely, audience-wise.

Meanwhile, with the pick up of 'Dark Blue,' TNT has renewed both of the dramas it launched last summer, with medical hourlong 'Hawthorne,' which stars Jada Pinkett Smith, renewed already a few months ago.

Indeed, TNT's previously stated goal of ramping up to at least three nights a week of original dramas is beginning to take shape.

On Monday night, the network's new Ray Romano drama 'Men of a Certain Age' debuted to 5.4 million viewers, while also enjoying ad-supported cable's top series premiere in 2009 in terms of households (4.1 million) and adults 25-54 (2.6 million).
