First of all, NY Magazine seems to confirm that Abrams is indeed directing the pilot. However, the earlier description of the show, which suggested it was to be 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' meets 'The Bourne Identity,' seems to have been somewhat inaccurate.

The pilot, which was co-written by Abrams and his 'Felicity' pal Josh Reims, follows the adventures of married couple Steven and Samantha, who met as spies and quit the life to open a catering business; however, unlike 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith,' they're actually kind of the perfect couple: happy, loving and prone to playful bickering. Their perfect life gets turned upside-down when they're called back into the spy game to track down a former flame of Samantha's, a CIA agent who has apparently gone rogue. Samantha also has a ne'er-do-well sister who has to take over the catering business when the spies are "re-activated."

J.J. Abrams struck gold with 'Lost,' a show that somehow managed to make people love it even when they hated it. It sounds like 'Undercovers' has Abrams returning to something like 'Alias,' though apparently a bit more tongue-in-cheek.

What do you think? From what we know so far, will 'Undercovers' be another Abrams success, a too-cute train wreck ... or something in-between?
