Top 10 'Glee' Performances (So Far!)

Glee
'Glee'
withdrawal already hitting like a cold slushee in the face? In honor of last night's fall finale of the Fox sensation (hooray, sectionals!), we thought we'd take a trip down memory lane and rehash the freshman series' top performances thus far. And while whittling down the list to just 10 meant that there were some shining numbers that didn't make the cut (sorry, 'Papa Don't Preach,' 'Single Ladies,' 'Maybe This Time' and 'Ride Wit Me') and there were some videos too recent to include (we'll catch you next time, 'Don't Rain on My Parade' and 'My Life Would Suck Without You'), herewith is a midseason rundown of our favorites. Perhaps watching these clips can help lessen the blow until next April(!), when 'Glee' finally returns after its winter break.Glee

10. 'I Wanna Sex You Up'
Pure, unadulterated joy: This raucous take on Color Me Badd's single, as performed by the Acafellas, served as a sly nod back to the boy band days of Matthew Morrison (a.k.a. Will) and notably unleashed Puck's hip-thrusting, cougar bait moves to an unsuspecting crowd, arousing even the unflappable Sue Sylvester.

9. 'Dancing With Myself'

A thoroughly charming solo that managed to both show off Artie's great voice and further his story at the same time.

8. 'Keep Holding On'
A touching, poignant take on the Avril Lavigne song that had the glee clubbers, outfitted in stark black and white, supporting a pregnant Quinn and carefully wending their way through the tricky constricts of love triangles and tight stage choreography.

7. 'Sweet Caroline'

For showing off a softer, more palatable side of Puck and his considerable guitar skills, and for introducing us to the weird but not altogether offputting coupling of Puck and Rachel. Their relationship barely lasted the episode, but luckily for us, Mark Salling's voice lives on. Swoon!

6. 'Hate On Me'
It was was a tossup between this and 'Bust Your Windows,' but this Mercedes vehicle won out for being a greater showcase for the singular Amber Riley, and also because it was preceded by Sue's hilarious roll call of minorities ("Santana. Wheels. Gay kid. Asian. Other Asian").

5. 'It's My Life/Confessions Pt. 2' mash-up

Bon Jovi and Usher: Two great tastes that surprisingly taste great together. The number was so infectiously energetic, we almost forgive the boys for being addled on pills throughout. Almost.

4. 'Somebody to Love'
Another goose-bump inducing show-stopper, this one a rousing version of the Queen classic.

3. The National Anthem at the World Series

Sure, it wasn't on the show itself, but this one gets a special mention because it gave us the cast's pure, harmonizing 'Glee' voices front and center, without any sort of vocal stylings or tricks. Plus, it's our national anthem. Way to go, America!

2. 'Take a Bow'

Lea Michele has got wounded looks and teenage angst down to a tee, and as a heartbroken Rachel, belts this Rihanna song to devastating effect. Anyone who's been a teenager with an unrequited crush can relate.

1. 'Don't Stop Believin''
But of course. Despite the many performances, duets, mash-ups and dance numbers, this take on the Journey song stands as the best, perhaps because it came as one of the first. Gives us goosebumps every time.
