'Fringe' may give us a weekly dose of strange characters, bizarre phenomena and wild special effects, but what draws us back are the charismatic, quirky, heroes.

And as Olivia, Peter and Walter continue investigating The Pattern and delve deeper into inter-dimensional strangeness, they grow closer -- so close, in fact, that some wonder if Peter and Olivia may soon set off sparks of their own. And as Olivia, Peter and Walter continue investigating The Pattern and delve deeper into inter-dimensional strangeness, they grow closer -- so close, in fact, that some wonder if Peter and Olivia may soon set off sparks of their own. AOL TV recently asked star Joshua Jackson if this was inevitable.

"This is only my opinion, but I don't think that's the direction that the story is going in," Jackson said. "In my head, what you have between these three people is a family dynamic rather than a romantic dynamic. She would be a very tolerant woman if she were willing to start dating a man who lives with his father."

"Peter's not much of a catch; a 30-year-old man who lives with his dad," Jackson added. "Jokes aside, it doesn't feel like the story is going in that direction. We're a year and a half in, and that would be a natural way for the story to go, but it just doesn't feel like that's happening on camera. Maybe I'm watching a different show, but it feels much more like the family against all odds rather than this romantic tension between these two characters."

Still, anything is possible in a show where supernatural events are everyday occurrences -- even Peter eventually moving out from underneath daddy's wing into a deluxe co-op.

"Exactly," Jackson mused. "A little place to call my own. It's hard to find time inside the story to tell our characters' lives outside of the investigation because the stories are tight and they have their own momentum and impetus. Peter and Walter do move out of the hotel room but move into a house together. As far as Peter's concerned he's taken on the job of being his father's keeper."

Hopefully Peter will get out and date eventually. And maybe Olivia will be game. After all, how many women can have a guy who they can say is literally out of this world?
