The show saw bachelor Jason tell both finalists -- Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft -- that he was in love with the other. Each women was rejected for the other in a span of six short weeks.

In the season finale in New Zealand, Molly tried her best to win Jason over with a seductive massage but ultimately failed. In the final rose ceremony, he told her, "I'm in love with someone else" and turned around and proposed to his first-choice love Melissa Rycroft, the peppy former Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleader.

In a shocking twist however, during the live broadcast of 'The Bachelor: After the Final Rose,' Jason flip-floped and took back his proposal to Melissa, revealing that he still had feelings for Molly. Melissa snapped, "You're such a bastard ... To me, getting engaged and finding that person was a once in a lifetime thing and you took that away from me!"

It was the break-up heard around the country. When it was all said and done, Jason became television's most despised man, and his mistreatment of Melissa became fodder for relationship experts everywhere, pontificating on "What not to do to your girlfriend, especially on a reality dating show, especially during a live broadcast."

Some speculated that Melissa was in on the dramatic break-up. Many felt that the drama was just so over-the-top that it had to be scripted. But e-mail exchanges between the couple, uncovered by 'Access Hollywood,' seemed to indicate otherwise.

Here's an excerpt from those e-mails:

"And getting confirmation about Molly in front of people like that was a complete classless move if you ask me -- how could you do that to me after I repeatedly asked you about it?" Melissa wrote.

"The producers had a lot to do with it. I am so sorry. This is so horrible," replied Jason.

Thankfully, Melissa received an outpouring of support and she picked herself up better than expected. She appeared on 'Dancing With the Stars,' looking sexy in sequins, and waltzed her way into the final three. She is now engaged to her long time pal Tye Strickland.

Jason and Molly announced their engagement this October but we all remember how the first proposal ended. Although it seems that they're headed towards "happily-ever- after," one can't help but wonder: "Can a prince who became a frog really be changed back into a prince?"

For the sake of dear Molly, let's all hope that they decide not to wed on live television.
