The Twelve Days of Festivus: Eleven babes worth watchin'
On the eleventh day of Festivus, TV gave to me ... eleven babes worth watchin' .Festivus is here, and is there a better way to celebrate than by taking stock of all the alluring TV hotties we've been obsessing over this year? I think not. (It's sure a beats counting down the year's stinkiest shows, anyway.)
For this year's list, we decided to stray a little from last year's Maxim covergirl-friendly tally to highlight the small screen starlets who charmed us not only with their hotness, but also with their talent. So head after the jump as we celebrate the 11th day of Festivus by counting down 11 babes worth watchin'.
Listed in alphabetical order.
Andrea Anders (Linda, Better off Ted) As the object of Ted's affection on Better Off Ted, Anders has created a character that's not just smoking hot, she's also smart, clever, funny and sometimes a little crazy. (OK, maybe a lot crazy.) We wouldn't mind working at a scary corporation like Veridian if we had a lovely lady like Linda to stare at from our cubicle and commiserate with in the break room.
Gabrielle Anwar (Fiona, Burn Notice) What's not to love about Miss Anwar, a natural beauty who would fit in perfectly on the runway and in the boxing ring? As the tough and sexy Fiona on Burn Notice, she reminds us that super hot ladies who can kick our asses in two minutes straight and render us slack jawed with their superhuman sex appeal are definitely worth obsessing over.
Morena Baccarin (Anna, V) Baccarin captured our nerd hearts as the soulful companion Inara on Joss Whedon's Firefly. Now she's back to hypnotize the world as a calculating alien leader on ABC's V redo. If her glowing face showed up in the sky and promised to heal all that ails us, we'd probably become V devotees in an instant. (Never mind that she's supposed to be all green and slimy under that perfect complexion.)
Alison Brie (Annie, Community/Trudy, Mad Men) Brie brings a lot of spunk to a couple of our favorite shows, but it's her hilarious performance on NBC's Community, as the obsessive former wiz kid Annie, that got us to take notice this year. Annie's hot figure is usually hidden under her mostly blah wardrobe, but she still manages to be more appealing than the show's resident hottie Britta (Gillian Jacobs).
Christina Hendricks (Joan, Mad Men) Another Firefly alum, Hendricks made a fool out of Captain Mal as duplicitous space grifter Saffron. Now she's stealing scenes as a red hot and complex femme fatale on Mad Men. In a show that features some of TV's hottest ladies, Hendricks' sassy turn as Joan, and her striking scarlet locks, make her stand out. (And yeah, we'd say Marilyn was really a Joan, too.)
January Jones (Betty, Mad Men) There are countless housewives clogging up the tube, from the Desperate to the real-life variety, but the award-winning Jones is easily the TVs hottest homemaker. As Mad Men's Betty Draper, she manages to keep that come-hither look whether she's sporting a slinky cocktail dress and a beehive or just a plain old housecoat.
Elyse Levesque (Chloe, Stargate Universe) Stargate Universe producer Joseph Mallozzi said it best when he likened Levesque to the beautiful starlets of the 30s and 40s. I also think he had it right when he described her alluring stare with one simple word: "Yowza!" On SGU, Levesque sexies up the screen as the prodigy daughter of a U.S. senator. And, for some obvious reasons, she's the only member of the cast so far who's been featured in a shower scene.
Lea Michele (Rachel, Glee) On Fox's Glee, the gorgeous Michele usually hides her va va voom physique while playing a gifted young singer whose talent is only outweighed by her ambition. Luckily, she's still fun and engaging to watch as the insane but lovable Rachel. But we're crossing our fingers to see her squeeze into that cat suit one more time.
Olivia Munn (Attack of the Show) Could 2010 be the year that the goofy G4 hottie finally becomes an A-lister? If not, it certainly won't be for a lack of trying. Munn scored roles in Iron Man 2 and the star-studded comedy Date Night. And she's always stealing the spotlight from the celebrities she interviews on AOTS. Not bad for a pinup with a penchant for geek culture.
Aubrey Plaza (April, Parks and Recreation) We love hot ladies who make us laugh, and Plaza is one of the funniest new faces on TV. As Parks and Rec's resident "lively and colorful" apathetic college intern, she makes playing deadpan seem like high art. Actually, we wouldn't mind if the entire show centered on Plaza's April and Chris Pratt's Andy.
Olivia Wilde (Thirteen, House) Wilde, who plays the mysterious, terminally ill bisexual doctor on House, is another beauty who doesn't need to show a lot of skin on screen to convince us of her sex appeal. Thankfully, the series doesn't seem to mind giving us a peek at Thirteen's more steamy intimate moments.
Twelve shows a stinkin'
