Golden Globes 2010: Best TV Drama Series Odds

by Gary Susman, posted Dec 14th 2009 10:00AM
Don't expect a whole lot of drama in the race for Best Drama Series at the Golden Globes. It would surprise no one if last year's winner, 'Mad Men' (pictured, right) repeats as a nominee and even as the eventual winner. Last year's nominees all have a similarly good shot at being recognized again when the nominations are announced on Dec. 15.

The Front Runners: 'Dexter,' 'House,' 'In Treatment' and 'True Blood,' all nominated last year, have a strong likelihood of returning. Other series likely to make the cut: 'Breaking Bad,' 'Damages' and 'The Mentalist.' Only two shows that are showing up for the first time on the awards radar -- freshman drama 'The Good Wife' (pictured, below left) and FX's suddenly hot 'Sons of Anarchy' -- have a good shot at breaking into this club.

The Dark Horses: 'Big Love' may get a little love. So may 'The Tudors,' 'Burn Notice' or 'Rescue Me.' All had a little buzz this year, but not enough to be sure things.

Truly long shots are new crime drama 'White Collar,' as well as sci-fi/fantasy genre pieces like 'FlashForward,' 'The Vampire Diaries,' 'V' and 'Lost.'

Don't Forget:
Any love among you voters for 'Battlestar Galactica'? Anyone? It's your last chance ...
