MTV to Cut Footage of Snooki Getting Punched on 'Jersey Shore'

With video of "Snooki" being punched by 24-year-old New York City gym teacher Brad Ferro going viral last weekend, MTV has thought better of airing the 'Jersey Shore' episode on which the incident takes place.

In a quote published by Entertainment Weekly, a spokesperson for MTV didn't address the punch video going viral, but did say that Ferro's right-hook to Snooki was "obviously extremely disturbing." Curiously, the spokesperson also acknowledged that video footage on the show had been "taken out of context to not show the severity of this act."With video of "Snooki" being punched by 24-year-old New York City gym teacher Brad Ferro going viral last weekend, MTV has thought better of airing the 'Jersey Shore' episode on which the incident takes place.

Curiously, the spokesperson also acknowledged that video footage on the show had been "taken out of context to not show the severity of this act."

Since 'Jersey Shore' was filmed last summer, it's also possible that MTV has known of this incident for some time and allowed its discovery by the media to stir up interest in the show, which has lost an advertiser and thus far has pulled mediocre ratings.

What remains of the Snooki-punch episode will be shown to still convey the events of the night it occurred ("The show will still make it clear what events transpired, including the full aftermath," the spokesperson added). As earlier reported by Inside TV, 21-year-old Snooki, whose full name is Nicole Polizzi, trysted with her friend Ryder and fellow cast member Mike in a hot tub before entering the bar where the punch was later thrown.

Ferro, meanwhile, has been removed from his duties and arrested, according to the NY Post. As Inside TV also noted earlier, physical violence on 'Jersey Shore' is just another day at the beach: yet another cast member, Pauly D, threw a punch at a clubgoer on the show's second episode.
