Woodard, an Oscar nominee for 1982's 'Cross Creek' and an Emmy winner for a guest spot on 'The Practice,' has had no problem finding work over the last few years.

After a season-long spot on ABC's 'Desperate Housewives,' she headed over to NBC to co-star with Christian Slater in the short-lived 'My Own Worst Enemy.'

Then came another short-term project, the organ transplant drama 'Three Rivers,' which died on the Sunday night operating table earlier this fall.

In addition to her 'True Blood' guest role, Woodard has also booked a more permanent gig on TNT's upcoming Jason Lee series 'Delta Blues.'

Meanwhile, three additional actors have joined 'True Blood' season 3: 'Bold and the Beautiful''s Natasha Alam, James Frain and J. Smith-Cameron, according to the Ausiello Files.
