Appearances on the 'The Office' plus the children's show 'Yo Gabba Gabba' were not enough. Now, Zap2it tells us, Black plans a January appearance on 'Community.'

'Community,' which premiered in September on NBC, follows Jeff Winger (Joel McHale,) a disbarred attorney who returns to community college in Greendale, Colorado. Jeff's love interest, Britta, is played by Gillian Jacobs, while his mentor, Pierce (Chevy Chase,) is a retiree who made his fortune on moist-towelettes.

Jeff befriends a band of misfits akin to the real life experience of producer Dan Harmon, who returned to junior college once in an effort to save a romantic relationship with his then girlfriend.

Black will, no doubt, bring his brand of goofball humor to the college scenes. The Nick Kids Choice and MTV Movie Award winner has appeared in nearly 50 feature films, including 2003's 'School of Rock,' 'Nacho Libre' (2006) and 'Kung Fu Panda' (2008). He is also one-half of the comedic musical act Tenacious D. In that outfit, Black and partner Kyle Gass have produced two albums, a movie and contributed a heavy metal track to the video game, 'Guitar Hero.'

'Community' has moved around the schedule, debuting Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. and then switching, after only three episodes, to 8 p.m. Many critics have hailed 'Community' as one of the best shows of 2009. The pilot managed to hold 93 percent of left-over 'Office' viewers, a show that previously held 'Community's' slot. The current season has averaged 5.53 million viewers to date and, despite some worry over ratings, has been picked up by NBC for another 22 episodes.
