SyFy will run a Chuck marathon to psych us for the new season

chuck_nbcNBC wants the new season of Chuck to get off to a good start. In fact, the network has realized that to reach the true Chuck viewer, the place to show a marathon of Chuck episodes from last season is probably not NBC proper. The network isn't set up for marathons anyway. So NBC will give fans a chance to catch up by showing a Chuck marathon on SyFy.

On Thursday, January 7, three days before the two-hour Sunday premiere, the Chuck marathon will begin over on SyFy. The eps chosen are Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak's favorites from Season Two, including "Chuck vs. The Santa Claus" which was a hoot.

NBC seems to be getting behind Chuck for season three. The new poster is impressive. But I have to tell you that I'm worried about the future of Chuck.

I'm looking forward to the new shows, but will I be experiencing Pushing Daisies all over again? Is Chuck coming back just to end the series? I'd love to think that new viewers will flock to this clever spy series and embrace it the way I have, but NBC is not in a position to support any show that's struggling.

The only ratings winner on NBC since September is The Biggest Loser and Sunday Night Football. Scripted series may be Emmy-worthy, but they ratings are middlin' at best. Returning to a regular spot Monday at 8 o'clock -- against CBS comedies, Fox's House and ABC's girly reality (The Bachelor) -- will Chuck really reach new viewers?

You see why I'm happy, nervous, scared, excited about the return. Hmm... maybe the Chuck marathon will restore my faith.

Great to see Chuck coming back. Got a two tuner TiVo so recording Chuck & House simultaneously will be easy.
