MSNBC's Dylan Ratigan turns Morning Meeting into a Morning Melee

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 21st 2009 9:42PM
Morning Meeting, a horrid hour long morning news and shout show featuring former CNBC talking head Dylan Ratigan, invited Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on a recent show and conducted the kind of interview that would cause the Bill O'Reilly from that infamous Inside Edition clip to calm down. Although it would probably sound more like "calm the f*$& down."

Ratigan tried to take Schultz to the mat over the recent health care bill, but the only thing he accomplished is turning his own show into the kind of wall of incoherent noise that has dominated the cable news clusterf&$%. He has since issued an apology.

Wow. That was awesome. Schultz wanted to spew her tired old talking points. Ratigan tried desperately to force her to confront reality, and when she refused and opted instead to keep feeding lies and propaganda, Ratigan let her have it. As well he should have. The only downside of this entire exchange is that Ratigan apologized. Why in the world should ANYONE apologize to a liar for calling them out on their lies? Schultz is, at best, ignorant, and at worst, a completely corrupt liar. Either way, she should not occupy a position with any more power or influence than that of a fry cook.

msnbc would be wise to listen closely to dylan and viewers. congress runs roughshod over us and gets away with murder with generic non answers . kudos to dylan---enough is enough with these people in congress and pursuing bills that affect us all to the benefit of those that would change the directional intent of our founding fathers.

Ratigan is a rightwing, libertarian fraud and just another of the Financial Press's Corporate Wallstreet Pimps, after continually lying, pumping and inflating stocks and commodities with his "Fast Money" crowd at CNBC(Fox Biz,WSJ,Forbes,FT etc.all the same)after being totally wrong and embarrassed when this cabal of corporate criminals and mostly Repub Politicians robbed and bankrupted our Country,NOW he suddenly becomes the voice of reason? No thanks Dylie ,with you it's any bandwagon in a storm, just as long as you can hear yourself blabbering on and on!

Dylan was terribly rude to Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz last week. I was so embarrased for her, I shut off the tv until his tirade was over. She was an invited guest, and she was 100% correct when she finally got a word or two in over Dylan's terrible conduct when she told him to invite a stockbroker on the show if he wanted to know why the stock of the insurance companies rose during the health care debate. The way I understood a conversation was held was that one person talked while the other person listened, and then the other person listened as the question was "attempted" to be answered. If Dylan didn't agree or like the answer, then he should have debated the issue, one voice at a time. We all know that he's angry. We are all. We're all just not angry and extremely out of line, pure and simple, rude!

Have to disagree with "a horrid hour long morning news and shout show featuring former CNBC talking head Dylan Ratigan" but then when ANYONE speaks truth to power, there will always be detractors complaining about how "terrible", "ain't it awful?".
The progressive movement garners about 10-20% of the media time, the rest is either conservative spin or neo-con fantasy, but then the "media" is owned by those guys...
Ratigan is not the run of the mill talking head and I don't always agree with him (I think he is too soft on some, like Dick Armey recently) but someone cherry pickin' info and over playing an incident whereby an, OH so poor, defenseless congresswoman being hounded by the evil monster, Ratigan....leave it to a media paid guy to get time and probably money to complain...
Nothing new here...move along

Don't let O'Bummer fool you.

He claims preexisting conditions will no longer be an impediment to health care. That is a laugh, because there are no caps on what insurance companies can charge!

Those with preexisting conditions will still be priced out of the market.

His bill also MANDATES that you and I buy insurance from the very same insurance companies that have been keeping us in the poor house all these years. WITH NO GOVERNMENT RUN PLAN TO PROVIDE COMPETITION!

Congress is going to use the IRS to redistribute your wealth to the CORPORATIONS!

Didn't we already bail out these Wall Streeters earlier this year?

Get ready for the new insurance bubble economy!

I don't know what persiflageur Ratty is noodling about. Cigna is still 36% below its two year high of about 54+..
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=CI#symbol=CI;range=2y
Aetna remains 40% below its two year high and still hasn't returned to its Feb. 09 one year high,
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=AET#symbol=AET;range=2y
FWIW: both were down today.
Details, details, darn those tedious details.
