According to the Hollywood Reporter, the network will air two episodes of the medical school comedy, along with the little-seen 'Better Off Ted,' on Jan. 5 and 12. This will be proceeded by another new episode of 'Scrubs' on Jan. 1, which will air in between two new episodes of 'Ted.'

Under most circumstances, this would sound like a comedy fan's dream come true. However, with both shows performing poorly in the ratings, it appears that ABC may be prepping to sweep them under the rug.

If 'Scrubs is being, uh, scrubbed out, then mastermind Bill Lawrence hardly has much to worry about, as he is also the co-creator of ABC's 'Cougar Town.' The show just earned star Courteney Cox a Golden Globe nomination, and features his wife, Christa Miller, as Jules' (Cox) best friend, Ellie.

Now in its ninth season, 'Scrubs' recently received a transfusion of new actors in anticipation of Zach Braff's departure, including James Franco's little brother, Dave. Unfortunately, the changes failed to give ABC the robust ratings NBC had enjoyed for years. 'Better Off Ted,' starring Jay Harrington and Portia de Rossi, has struggled on Tuesdays as well, with a depressing 3.2 million viewers tuning in to last week's episode.

Time will tell how much more we will see of 'Ted,' or the interns of Sacred Heart Hospital. But wouldn't Portia be delicious on 'Cougar Town'? Or 'Desperate Housewives'? Or how about just 'Portia!'?
