"I am delighted to be back on E! and to have the opportunity to say what I think about the fashions on the red carpet," said Rivers in a statement. "Most of all, I am thrilled to have my daughter Melissa producing. I know with Melissa at the helm, I can relax and say what I really want."

The 'Fashion Police' specials mark Rivers' return to the E! network after a six-year absence. She hosted the network's red-carpet specials from 1996 to 2003, when she left to join the TV Guide network.

The stand-up comic and erstwhile talk-show host has made a career out of her brash, brassy candidness, as seen on this clip where she joins Harry Smith on CBS' 'The Early Show' to unleash on some fashion don'ts.

Nor has she been one to hold back, as seen in this clip from last April, when she and her daughter Melissa lashed out at fellow contestants Annie Duke and Brande Roderick while contestants on NBC's 'The Celebrity Apprentice' (which Joan eventually ended up winning):
