Joss Whedon's 'Dollhouse' may be on the way out but it's not going quietly. The Ausiello Files tells us that hoops legend turned actor Rick Fox has signed on for a little cameo opposite real life girlfriend Eliza Dushku.

Fox will appear briefly as an Active in the Jan. 8 episode where he will be granted back his original personality and emerge from the sci-fi show's famous imprint chair. The Ausiello Files tells us that Basketball star-turned-actor Rick Fox has signed on for a little cameo opposite real-life girlfriend Eliza Dushku.

Fox will appear briefly as an Active in the Jan. 8 episode, in which he will be granted back his original personality and emerge from the sci-fi show's famous imprint chair. The report also reveals that -- spoiler alert! -- he and the other Dolls will then be released back into the world.

Fox began his career as a baller in 1991 with the Boston Celtics and later the L.A. Lakers. He retired from the court in 2004 after 13 professional seasons, and turned his attention to acting. He has since guest starred on a number of shows, including 'One Tree Hill,' 'Missing' and a recurring role on Dirt.' He also scored the lead role in 'Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns.'

Coincidentally, this isn't the first time that Fox has brought some real-life chemistry to the small screen. He previously had a recurring role on the ABC comedy 'Ugly Betty,' opposite ex-wife Vanessa Williams.

As we reported in November, poor ratings have forced the cancellation of 'Dollhouse,' which will make its exit in early February. Fox's episode, which will also mark a return appearance by Summer Glau, airs on Jan. 22, just two weeks before the series finale.
