Coach Phil Jackson's Unusual Technique for Getting Players Back on Track (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Dec 24th 2009 10:45AM
According to L.A. Lakers point guard Derek Fisher, coach Phil Jackson uses a decidedly New Age technique to get his team back on track should they not be playing well.

"When we kinda get going a little funky -- we may lose a game or two or just our energy or chemistry as a team is off -- he comes into the locker room and he'll have a handful of sage," Fisher told Conan O'Brien. "He lights it and he literally walks through the entire locker room, the training room, all the team areas."

When asked by O'Brien whether sage burning works, Fisher said, "Well, he has 10 championship rings, and I'm 4, hopefully going to 5. So, I think it's working."
