All Annie wants for Festivus
Ooh! Is it that time of year again when I get to ask for things and then receive none of them? Fantastic.Okay, I don't ask for very much each Festivus, but all my choices are very carefully made. I'll even put aside my desperate need to hang out with The Roots for a day or wish to surgically replace my own legs with those of Blake Lively. I can work on all that stuff next year. For 2009, these are all I want for Festivus!
- How about a strong finish for Lost? As a long-time fan and nerd for time travel, I've been very pleased with the show's progress so far (I'll even forgive the mess that was season three). The show's certainly in dangerous territory at this point, because expectations are crazy-high and there's this constant feeling that the creative minds have written themselves into a corner. Regardless, I'm excited to see what they do. Fingers crossed it will be an ending worth celebrating.
- Venture Bros. has gone on its mid-season break and won't be returning for several months. On the plus side, we're getting a slightly longer season that usual. The first eight episodes we've seen have been spectacular, for the most part. Some familiar faces were brought back for the semi-finale and I can only imagine how much more nonsense is in store for 4.2. I hope the season doesn't lose steam over the break and will continue to deliver.
- This is probably a tall order, but could everyone chill a little about Glee? I feel like the Grinch every time I say this, but ... Glee's really not that good. It's one of those shows that I really want to enjoy, as I'm a big nerd for song and dance and also a bit of a sass-mouth, but it just leaves me cringing most of the time (I inadvertently make a lot of Sue Sylvester faces while watching). I would love for the sheer awesomeness of future episodes of Glee make me eat my words. Really, I would gladly crawl back to it. Until then, for the love of everything that is campy and musical, please step back and take a breath, Gleeks.
- Please don't suck, Doctor Who. There's a lot riding on the shoulders of Steven Moffat and everyone involved in the new series of Doctor Who. Even though they both look like white bread hipsters, I'm looking forward to what the new Doctor and companion can do. I'll even give them some critical wiggle room as they find their voices. Fingers crossed Doctor Who will still be as fun and ridiculous as its always been and it will make me forget how much I already miss Ten and Donna.
- Someone put Heroes out of its misery. I recently read about characters joining the carnival, so I don't regret my decision to quit this show at all.
- While we're doing errands at the peacock network, someone let Jay Leno know he won't be forgotten. Surely that terror is the only reason why Leno is still hanging around NBC. Maybe if someone assures him of his place in television history, he'll go home.
