Jersey Shore under investigation for labor law violations

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 26th 2009 11:02PM
It seems that Sen. Joseph Vitale's efforts to get Jersey Shore kicked off the air go far beyond some wimpy boycotts. He has officially, as Monty Burns would say, "released the hounds" minus, of course, any actual hounds...yet.

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development has launched an investigation into the show's employment and wage practices at Vitale's request. This news comes on the same day that Vitale publicly declared his disdain for the show and wished that MTV would cancel it.

Even if you're not a fan of the show, you have to admit this feels a little over the line. Whadayathinkaboutit?

I have watched the show 4 times and all it shows is that all Jersey girls are sluts and the guys do what they do best,"Treat women like sluts" I would like to know where they found these people and why are all of them Italian??? Not everyone in Jersey are Italian. Just like the House Wives of New Jersey, they all had to be Italian. Bull-shit !!!

I'm from NJ. And I can both sadly and happily confirm that this is what it's like during the summer in Seaside.

Went to Seaside most of my childhood (late 30s now)...but the guido invasion started, so most families transitioned to LBI or Wildwood. Jersey natives have, for the most part, left Seaside to the guidos.

I think this political move is idiotic. Why waste time on this? Move on to something important...like finding the Jersey Devil!

Well it is kinda ridiculous to spend city money on that. And besides who would the rest of america have to laugh at?? I think he's just pissed off that it truly is what Jersey is like and they, along with the Housewives show, are showing the true colours of that place.. sucks but it is what it is and at least it humours us!

This show is disgusting. I saw it once, and could not believe that these kids are not embarrassed by their behavior. Their parents should be ashamed they raised such selfish, spoiled brats.

Let's imagine that you saw a terrible crime being committed. Now let's say that you have a job where you are in a position to stop that crime even if you were bordering on bad taste because it's obvious you have a personal vendetta with your string-pulling. Would you still go ahead and do it?

You may say that is a bad example but I say that Jersey Shore is a crime against humanity.

He isn't committing any crime himself even if he is abusing his power a bit. He is trying to stop Jersey Shore from airing! The man is a freaking hero!

Abusing his power is unethical and a lot worse than some goofy TV show. I really do not get people who can't seem to understand that if you don't like something on TV there is a really simple solution for you...turn the channel!

It's a shame the Senator and NJ Department of Labor are focusing so hard on this. I would imagine there are plenty of other problems in NJ in need of attention than an MTV reality show.

Yep, those public whores are at it again. He's only doing this to boost his visibility for reelection.

Fuck politicians. Seriously.

Joe Vitale is going too far investigation I doubt that they will fine any labor laws that were broken.
