What to Watch: December 26-27

by Kim Potts, posted Dec 26th 2009 6:00AM
'Doctor Who: End of Time' Part 1 (Sat., 9PM, BBCA)
The aptly titled 'End of Time' really does spell the beginning of the end for current Doctor Who David Tennant, who's leaving his role as the tenth Doctor with 'End of Time,' part 2. The youngest Who ever -- 26-year-old Matt Smith -- takes over in 2010 for the show's fifth season, but for now, it's still all about Tennant's good Doctor, who faces the end of his life when The Master is reborn. And, word of advice, 'Who' fans: Tennant says he cried when he read the 'End of Time' script, so make sure you've got a hankie standing by in your own little TARDIS.'Doctor Who: End of Time' Part 1 (Sat., 9PM, BBCA)

'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' – Or you can catch a replay of the first four episodes of 'CI's eighth season (Sun., 6PM, Bravo)

'Sound of Music' – The Oscar winner, which marks its 45th anniversary next year, has been restored to its original four-hour run for this airing, i.e. a Christmas dinner leftovers intermission is definitely in order (Sun., 7PM, ABC)

'Everest: Beyond the Limit' – In the first new episode in a three-episode marathon to kick off the new season, one climber does not have a successful journey (Sun., 8PM, Discovery) season 3 premiere
