Family Feud and The Simpsons on the iPhone

With the invention of the App Store, it should be no surprise that game versions of various television properties would appear on the iPhone and iPod Touch. I have managed to get my hands on two of them (Family Feud and The Simpsons) and offer a brief review of each.

Family Feud - This game is a wonderful recreation of the environment of the game show it's based on, right down to the camera pans. The big difference is that one has to type any of the top-however-many answers rather than speak them, so it's best if the player have excellent spelling skills. Currently the game is on sale for $2.99 in the App Store.

The Simpsons Arcade - I used to waste many quarters on this arcade game back when it existed on a refrigerator-sized console. Now it fits on my iPod Touch and I can play as much as I'd like for a low fee. The plot is somewhat irrelevant but it involves Homer beating up a lot of people in order to get to a donut, which makes more sense than many of the episodes of the show. It's well worth the $4.99 to download from the App Store.

That's not the same Simpsons Arcade game you used to play in the actual Arcade. EA doesn't own the rights to the Konami classic, so they've made a completely new one (albeit inspired by the old one).
