TV-wise, this isn't the most wonderful time of the year

retro tvSo we're in that dead time of the TV season when there's really not much on. Everything seems to be a repeat on the networks (not just prime time but game shows and talk shows during the day, too) or your favorite show isn't on at all.

There could be a silver lining in all of this though. Since your favorite shows are in repeats or aren't on, why not take this opportunity to watch a show you've never seen before? For example, tonight's CBS comedy lineup of How I Met Your Mother, Accidentally on Purpose, Two and a Half Men, and Big Bang Theory are all repeats, so why not check out House if you've never seen it before? Sounds good in theory (big bang or otherwise), though I'm not sure if people think like that with their TV show watching.

I might check out NBC's four episode marathon of Community tonight. There are some episodes of that show I haven't seen yet. ABC? They're showing Pirates of the Caribbean tonight for some reason (and tomorrow FOX is showing...The Benchwarmers??)

There are a few new things to watch this week: American Masters on PBS tonight, The Kennedy Center Honors on CBS tomorrow night, a new Eastwick on ABC Wednesday night, and the New Year's Eve specials on Thursday night, of course. But it's really an odd week for television.

I guess it's a great time to watch those DVDs you got for Christmas, right?

It really is quite upsetting. Now that I actually have time to watch the shows I want to watch (House at 8 on Mondays happens to fall during my own radio show, etc.), they aren't on. I've exhausted Hulu.
