NBC is in talks to bring the series back and Paul Telegdy, the network's head of reality programming, wants to have a new host and format changes, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider.

The series originally aired from 2003-08 on NBC. Comics would battle each other with stand-up routines and other comedic endeavors to win a development contract with NBC and star in their own specials, which would air on Comedy Central and Bravo.

The series had four hosts in the course of its run, including Jay Mohr, Anthony Clark, Bill Bellamy and Fearne Cotton.

The thinking is that the series will run in the summer along with NBC's other reality fare, including 'America's Got Talent' and the new 'Losing It With Jillian,' starring 'The Biggest Loser's' fitness expert Jillian Michaels, according to the report.

'Comic' averaged 5.2 million viewers and a 7 share among adults 18-49 when it last aired in '08 and does well among adults 18-49 living in homes with $75K to $100k-plus incomes.

Past champs include Iliza Shlesinger and Dat Phan.
