Doctor Altman, we officially have a love triangle in the cardiology department.

With old faces on 'Grey's Anatomy' moved on (T.R. Knight), or less visible (Katherine Heigl), a new one is staying – and sure to cause lots of fireworks, possibly between one of the show's hot hookups.

Kim Raver, the 'Lipstick Jungle' star who plays cardio goddess Teddy Altman on 'Grey's,' has been upped from recurring character to series regular for the second half of the show's sixth season, the Hollywood Reporter announced Sunday, signaling what could be lasting attention around a multi-way romance plot line.

Raver, it has been revealed, has a romantic past from military time in Iraq with Owen (fellow recur-turned-regular Kevin McKidd), who is involved with Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), also a cardiologist at Seattle Grace.

The show returns Jan. 14, in a special crossover event with 'Private Practice.' Raver, who also starred on '24,' is supposed to appear on all remaining episodes this seasonm minus one.

Raver, McKidd and Jessica Capshaw, who plays Sara Ramirez's love interest Arizona Robbins, have all been promoted to series regulars.
