If the show does make it to season 21, there could be some format changes ahead. Reality Blurred reports it's likely that one location, for instance Samoa, could be used for two seasons. Producers could then incorporate returning cast members.

Last summer, the show began a back-to-back production schedule geared to save money. And if the two season-one locale system is employed, even more bucks will be spared.

According to the new 'Survivor' application, contestants "must be willing to travel to a remote location selected by Producers for seven weeks for a period between summer and early fall 2010."

'Survivor' has used the same location before, putting a twist on things to keep up viewer interest. So with returning cast members, they will probably go the all-star route. Not having to scout a new location cuts costs, in addition to searching and screening fewer contestants, which can also be costly. Plus, the producers can build off strong characters from one season into the next.

There is speculation that there might be 'Survivor' themes, such as bringing back those who were medically evacuated or even evicted. That gives CBS a pool of 301 contestants. Or perhaps there will be a mix of old and new contestants such as in the Micronesia season.

The February "all-star" 'Survivor Heroes vs. Villains' will be a bit of a test. CBS will clearly be pleased if the format draws in viewers and saves money, a combination that no network can ignore.
