What to Watch: January 6

by Kim Potts, posted Jan 6th 2010 6:00AM
'Nip/Tuck' – It's only appropriate that as Sean and Christian and their 'Nip/Tuck' cohorts prepare to ride off into the sunset -- this is the seventh and final season premiere for the over-the-top drama -- we get a flashback episode that finally explains how the very different Sean and Christian became partners in the first place. As the fellas head back to their alma mater to accept a prestigious award (one which, Sean is unhappy to learn, wasn't so much earned as purchased), Sean takes a trip down memory lane and recalls how a young Christian alienated him from his fellow college students, talked him into pursuing plastic surgery as a career and ultimately cost him admission to Harvard Medical School. Could this be the beginning of the end of not only the series, but of a, not exactly beautiful, but certainly complicated, friendship? 'I Get That a Lot' – Celebs try to fool the public into thinking they're not celebs. Hey, any show that has Paris Hilton pumping gas can't be all bad, right? (8PM, CBS) series premiere

'The Middle'Brooke Shields guest-stars -- and is looking very un-Shields-like -- as Rita Glossner, the neighbor who gets into a scuffle with the Hecks (8:30PM, ABC)

'Modern Family' – Remember that devastatingly handsome, and notoriously unreliable, ex-husband/father of Manny whom Gloria has mentioned? He pops up for a visit tonight, and he looks exactly like Benjamin Bratt, who just happens to be guest-starring ... (9PM, ABC)

'People's Choice Awards' – Queen Latifah hosts this annual kudosfest where the movie, TV and music winners are chosen by the fans, so if your fave doesn't win, you have only yourselves to blame (9PM, CBS)

'Cougar Town' – Courteney Cox might be missing her old pal Phoebe, because when Lisa Kudrow drops in as Jules' dermatologist, she's anything but 'Friends'-ly (9:30PM, ABC)

'Launch My Line' – If you're gaga for Lady Gaga, tune in tonight, as she surprises the contestants by making an appearance and inspiring their next challenge (10PM, Bravo)
