Is Smallville season ten on the way?
The path is clearing for Smallville to return for a tenth season. CW president Dawn Ostroff recently dropped some positive comments about the show's creative direction and hinted at a renewal. Speaking to IGN, Ostroff seemed pleased with the show's ratings and optimistic about its chances for another season, but the final decision won't be made until May.
Ostroff also told EW that Smallville producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders have yet to pitch the final episode to the network.
"... We haven't even gotten to how we're going to deal with the last episode and whether it's a season finale or series finale. But right now, I think it's just a season finale," she said.
Thanks to a fervent fan base and some exciting stunts (like hiring famed comic book scribe Geoff Johns to pen a few geektastic episodes), Smallville has managed to stay afloat and even thrive while many marquee shows have succumbed to low ratings and poor scheduling.
I wouldn't mind seeing the show continue after this season, especially if it keeps making room for cool guest stars (like Brian Austin Green and Julian Sands) and offering unmistakably geeky events, like February 5's "Absolute Justice" episode.
What do you guys think? Are you excited about "Absolute justice?" Do you like Smallville's new direction? Does it deserve to continue after season nine wraps?
