Review: Desperate Housewives - You Gotta Get a Gimmick

(S06E12) After a dramatic plane crash and the housewives wondering what could happen as they tried to cope with their losses, it's time to return to normal life -- as much as one can have a normal life on Desperate Housewives that is -- on Wisteria Lane.
We resume about month after Karl's death. Julie and Susan learn what Karl left them in his will; Bree tries to get Orson to move back home; Lynette wants to know what will happen to her job; Gaby and Carlos try to get Juanita in a school. As for Katherine, she is still missing in action this week as she is still locked in the loony bin.
The Delfinos
I was not surprised to see that Karl left something in his will to Susan. Even if he was with many women, including Edie and Bree, Karl always had a thing for Susan Q and knew he owed her for cheating on her. However, I was surprised that he left her his share of the strip club. Now, Karl co-owning a strip club is not an OMG! reveal but Karl thinking that Susan can take care of his share of such a business and that giving half a strip club with help make amends for him cheating is funny.
For a change, I enjoyed Susan's storyline this week. DH writers love to put Susan in situations where she doesn't belong and this week was the same. However, Susan held her own and was not too childish or silly. Could she be a good co-owner? Maybe. But I'm sure it won't be without a few mishaps.
The whole "forbidding Mike to go to the strip club" storyline provided one of the funniest scene we've had in a while: Lee and McCluskey having a fantasy of Tom at the 4th of July barbecue! That was hilarious. Lee so needs more screen time. I'm sure the Susan pole dancing also made a lot of DH fans happy, no?
If Susan does stay as co-owner, I can already imagine her trying to talk a few of the dancers out of their jobs saying that they should do something else. If she does keep the club, I wonder if she'll keep her job at the school. Will the principal allow one of his teachers to own a strip club?
The Solises
I don't get why Juanita didn't know she is of Mexican descent. I understand that because Wisteria Lane is primary caucasian, that the Solises somewhat forgot about their roots and Juanita saw herself as solely American with no roots from elsewhere. What I don't get is the fact that it looks like Carlos never told his daughters about his own roots. Carlos loved his mother so much that one would expect him to have showed pictures of their grandmother to his daughters and give a bit of family history while at it, no? Since Gaby didn't like her childhood and wanted to escape it, it explains why she didn't share her roots with Juanita and Celia. But Carlos?
The Scavos
We finally got resolution of the whole Lynette's job ordeal. I'm glad that she'll get paid time off and her job back. However, Tom is at his best when working. Even if he worked late a few times in this week's episode, Tom looked fulfilled and happy; emotions we haven't seen him express in a while. He even lied to Carlos about Lynette not coming back to work so he (Tom) could stay around. Couldn't there be a way for both Lynette and Tom to work for Carlos? After all, that other guy did end up taking the job in Florida so that frees up a position at the company.
It was heartbreaking to see Tom and Lynette talk about their feelings of losing their unborn son. Will they always think of him and what could have been when they'll look at their soon-to-be-born twin daughter?
The Hodges
The future for Orson and Bree doesn't look bright, eh? It looks like Orson will make Bree's life a living hell and I'm sure she'll lose herself along the way while trying to redeem herself by doing everything Orson wants.
Do you think McCluskey told Roy to keep the ramp up because Orson will eventually move out of Bree's and ask McCluskey for a room? If Orson keeps being nasty to Bree, it's a matter of time (maybe May sweeps) for her to reach her breaking point and ask him to move out or else. However, maybe McCluskey knows that she and Roy aren't getting any younger and that they may need a ramp for themselves.
Julie/Danny/Ana
Some fans have been wondering what Ana was up, too. Since we haven't heard about her for a while, I guess she has been behaving and going to school.
Julie agreed to help Ana spend time with Danny to see if things could work out between them. Danny was right to tell Ana that she likes herself a bit too much and that it was one of the reason he wasn't interested in her. I'm pretty sure he changed his mind about her so quick because he needs her to not spread the word that he tried to commit suicide by taking pills. Julie knows but she is moving away for a while so she isn't a threat to Danny. Ana knowing why Danny went to the hospital is. Since the Bolens want to keep up appearances, I bet Danny will date Ana for a while to keep her from talking.
What did you think of this week's episode? Do you think Orson will make Bree's life a living hell or that they will find a way to make things work and fall in love again? Do you agree with me that Danny is suddenly interested in Ana so to keep her from talking? Share your opinion and comments below.
