Do you have any love for Big Love's new opening credit sequence?

The new season of HBO's Big Love also brought with it a new opening sequence for the first time in its history and not everyone is in love with it.

Some readers of my review of the show's season four premiere made some well reasoned arguments both for and against the new sequence, something I didn't do because it wasn't included in the screener review HBO sent out before the show hit the airwaves last Sunday. It not only has a much different look and feel but it also has a new theme song, "Home" by the Engineers replacing "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys.

It's still early in the season, but I like the new sequence just as much as the old one. As for the song, well at least they didn't go with Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'."

The new opening is the shittiest piece of shit ever shat out of Hollywood's shitty ass. I'm still puking.

I love the new intro. It's not only artistically beautiful, it also perfectly captured where the show is.

I am really loving this new opening sequence and The Engineers' song fits so well with the visuals. It is befitting of the present state of the family, its members falling into an unknown abyss trying to reach out to one another.

I love it. The new opening represents the Mormon concept of 'hell' perfectly- being cast out into the darkness alone for all of eternity. The previous opening had an idealized afterlife containing Bill and his wives all together and happy. To me, the new opening signals that happy afterlife is in serious peril.

Love it. Engineers are a favourite of mine..."God only knows" is one of the greatest songs of all time, however this song fits the the theme of what appears to be the break-up of the family

Hated It! It's too much like Mad Men. I liked the old titles much more.

I said this in the other review -

New opening was awesome - the old one was very white & bright and depicted classic Mormon concepts (temple marriage, the planet, etc.) - the new one is dark and they're all floating, alone, reaching out - perfect for the concept of Bill's new church! And it's very visually cool too, I think.

I don't like it. I miss the beach boys song. It perfectly captured the show. Well, at least the Hendricksons.
