Review: The Big Bang Theory - The Psychic Vortex

(S03E12) The TCA panel for CBS was on Saturday, and Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre brushed off talk of a Penny/Sheldon hookup by basically saying that Sheldon is asexual. He's chosen not to play the relationship game at all, and the writers aren't planning on changing that. This is quite evident in this week's episode, as Sheldon meets a lady who totally wants to do it to him, and he instead spends the night in Leonard's room accompanied by his Green Lantern lantern.
Despite the fact that Leonard and Wolowitz are double dating and Raj is trying very hard to find a girlfriend (who he will never be able to talk to? I'm still a little confused as to how that would work), Sheldon remains perfectly content to backup all of his data and reinstall his operating system. And since it's Sheldon and not Wolowitz we're talking about here, that's not even a euphemism for anything.
This whole storyline with Sheldon and Martha may have bothered me had I not read what Lorre had to say on the matter. The whole "Sheldon is socially inept" thing works in some ways, but he's also had a lot of personal growth over the past three seasons, so it would be a little hard for me to believe that he would have absolutely no idea what was happening. I much prefer to believe that this is more of a conscious choice, and that he lacks the tact to let Martha down gently.
After waiting so long for Leonard and Penny to get together, I've been pretty disappointed in how boring their relationship is, for the most part. At least in this episode, we had a little drama when the pair clashed on the matter of psychics. It's a little weird to me that Leonard was so shocked that Penny believes in psychics, because, come on. Of course she's the type of person to believe in psychics. While I thought that both actors were interesting during this storyline, I didn't really like it because it felt too much like manufactured drama.
Also confusing? Bernadette's definition of bases. I would like to see a chart please. Or perhaps some sort of map.
Some of my favorite quotes from this week:
Sheldon: "I'm sorry Raj, I have no desire to salute any article of clothing tonight, much less one that's linked to race riots in the 1940s."
Raj: "Race Riots?"
Sheldon: "The 'Zoot Suit Riots'?"
Raj: "Ohhhh. I always thought that was some sort of after-Christmas sale."
Raj: "Come on, let's get a drink."
Sheldon: "I don't drink."
Raj: "Well I do, and when my wingman is carrying a Green Lantern lantern, I drink a lot."
Wolowitz: "I once dated a girl who believed she was abducted by aliens."
Leonard: "And that didn't bother you?"
Wolowitz: "Au contraire; it meant she was gullible and open to a little probing."
Penny: "Wow, that's all you got after you were the most obnoxious person on a double date that included Howard Wolowitz?"
