Jimmy Kimmel to appear on Leno's show tonight

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 14th 2010 8:04AM
KimmelRemember the other night when Jimmy Kimmel spent an entire episode dressed as Jay Leno, doing the monologue as Leno and even bantering with Cleto as Kevin Eubanks? Looks like he's going to be talking about it tonight on a place you might not expect: The Jay Leno Show.

Yup, Kimmel is going to be doing the "10@10" segment on Leno's show tonight. This whole Leno/Conan thing is embarrassing to NBC, of course, but I also think that a part of them is loving it. All of the shows are getting some mileage from the controversy and getting attention they wouldn't have gotten before.

By the way, the "10@10" segment. I'm wondering if Leno will take this with him when he goes back to The Tonight Show, the way he took "Headlines" with him when he went to 10PM. He'll have to change the name, of course. How does "11@11:35" sound?

The way I see it, if Conan leaves, Leno takes back tonight for 5 more years, then retires. Kimmel wants to stay on the good side of NBC and try to get the Tonight Show seat.

For some reason, this reminded me that Jimmy portrayed Jay during E!'s reenactment of the Michael Jackson trial back in '05. Apparently he's working on a second career as a professional Leno impersonator.

Hey Bob. I read every blog on this site but either I missed one or you have inside information that has not been shared publicly yet. (I guess the third option is that you are conjecturing) Who said Leno is returning to the Tonight Show? Last I heard Conan said no to a move and that was it. There have been no statements released about the how it will all end up yet, has there?
I am not a huge loyal Tonight Show viewer so I kinda care less where Conan lands because I have always watched his show and figure that I will always watch it no matter what station it is on (except CBS because their online streaming sucks). I do feel bad for Conan though because I like him and feel he needs to be treated better. What are your takes on the political side of things? Is this good or bad for Conan in the long run?
