TLC Still Developing Kate Gosselin's New TV Show

by Scott Harris, posted Jan 14th 2010 9:55AM
Hey guys, remember Kate Gosselin? About yea tall, mildly hair, has a bunch of kids? Well, if you have somehow managed to forget her despite the non-stop tabloid coverage of her disintegrating marriage, you're in luck, because TLC is preparing to bring her back with her own show -- sans children.

Or at least, that's the rumor. According to Entertainment Weekly, TLC would not confirm reports that Gosselin will be starring in a new reality series where the original octomom would try a new, offbeat job every week. "This is just the latest speculation from supposed sources," a representative from the network indicated. "We are still in development and looking at a number of ideas. When we have determined what the show will be, you will hear directly from us."Hey guys, remember Kate Gosselin? About yea tall, mildly hair, has a bunch of kids? Or at least, that's the rumor. According to Entertainment Weekly, TLC would not confirm reports that Gosselin will be starring in a new reality series, in which the original octomom would try a new, offbeat job every week. "This is just the latest speculation from supposed sources," a representative from the network indicated. "We are still in development and looking at a number of ideas. When we have determined what the show will be, you will hear directly from us."

The speculation being refuted came courtesy of The Wrap, which cited unnamed executives who indicated that Gosselin's new show would be "more like Kate Gosselin, firefighter, not Kate Gosselin, wife and homemaker." While the prospect of Gosselin becoming a firefighter may prove a boon to the insurance industry, on the surface it would seem to be a bit of a stretch for the homemaker (or home wrecker, depending on whether you believe estranged husband Jon Gosselin). Not so, says another unnamed source.

"She's proven herself to be a celebrity in her own right," a wonderfully optimistic executive told The Wrap, "and, with the interest she generates, she can fit into any role on her own."

While many exhausted television viewers may prefer a future role for her on 'Where Are They Now?,' this rumored series from TLC is just one of the projects being developed around Gosselin as a follow up to 'Jon & Kate Plus 8.' Her recent appearance as a guest host on 'The View,' for instance, has spawned the idea of a "'View'-like spinoff" featuring Gosselin alongside homey cooking maven Paula Deen of all people.

Whatever the truth, you can be assured of one thing: when Gosselin finally does start her new show, we'll be watching. Because it's our job. What everyone else's excuse is, we're not sure.
