What to Watch: Jan. 18-24

by Stephanie Earp, posted Jan 18th 2010 2:31AM

Dollhouse - Friday January 22, 8 pm, Global/Fox

EDITOR'S NOTE: The 'Dollhouse' finale has been postponed to January 29th. The Haiti fundraising telethon will air in its place.

While most TV viewers are excited about the new shows starting up, Joss Whedon fans are taking it on the chin again as 'Dollhouse' comes to a close. But there are some signs the show may live on, as 'Buffy' and 'Angel' did before it, in the world of comic books. At the very least, fans can tease themselves with trips to a couple of viral websites where Echo's world lives on. Check out the site for the Rossum Corporation, a rebel Ditch the Tech site, the issues-driven Not A Doll site and of course, get all the updates at Joss-central - Whedonesque.com.

Also This Week

24 - Monday January 18, 8 pm, Global/Fox

Even the scheduling of the season premiere confuses me. Tonight part 2 of a four-hour, two-night season opener gets started. In plain English, that means episodes three and four air back-to-back tonight. If Jack Bauer can keep this straight, surely he can manage to prevent yet another assassination attempt.

The Deep End - Wednesday January 20, 10 pm, Global/ABC

Unfortunately this is not a TV version of the underrated Tilda Swinton movie, but with any luck it's not the 'Grey's Anatomy'-in-a-law-firm show the trailers have been selling either. For one thing, executive producer David Hemingson comes from successful comedies like 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Kitchen Confidential' and it stars Tina Majorino ('Veronica Mars', 'Big Love') who seems unlikely to drop 30 pounds and turn into a raging B-word, like some people.

Parks & Recreation - Thursday January 21, 8:30 pm, Citytv/NBC

Justin Theroux ('Six Feet Under', 'Mulholland Drive') guest stars as a date for Leslie .... [rest of entry obscured by drool.]

The Screen Actors Guild Awards - Saturday January 24, 8 pm, Global/TNT

Think of this as a warm-up for the serious award shows coming later this winter. Front-runners Meryl Streep and George Clooney will be there presenting and probably picking up some hardware, and TV will be well represented by Alec Baldwin, Jane Lynch and Anna Paquin. Yes Anna, you're a lowly TV star now. Sucks, doesn't it?
