Craig Ferguson has the outtakes from Morgan Freeman and The CBS Evening News

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 20th 2010 3:02PM
If you haven't heard (a lot of people don't watch the network newscasts, after all), Morgan Freeman has replaced Walter Cronkite as the voice of The CBS Evening News. Last night, Craig Ferguson played the outtakes from Freeman's intro to the show. It could be an impersonator, but it sounds like Freeman.

may be a good Freeman impersonator, but not as good as Mike O'Meara.

I'd bet cash money it was Freeman. He was on the show a few weeks ago. Why not do it? He's done crazy stuff for Ferguson before...
And as Eugene wrote...this is why Craig is the true king of late night.

Morgan Freeman was on Craig just a few days ago, so why not do a few takes after the show?

Why wouldn't morgan do it? It's exactly the sort of stuff he'd do for craig. Which is why Craig remains the true king of late night.

CMart,
The only reason I presume it wasn't actually Freeman in Robot Chicken is that he isn't credited, and they're usually quite good about that. But you're right, it sounds EXACTLY like him.

Probably Josh Robert Thompson - who also imitates Schwarzenegger on the show.

Yes, it was him. He was on the Pretty Good Podcast and said so.

Definitely an impersonator -- not quite deep enough for it to be Freeman, but it's pretty good.

I didn't think it sounded remotely real... the guy they got to do the Morgan Freeman voiceover on Robot Chicken for the Batman/Shawshank skit, now that was a quality MF impersonation... this? Lackluster.

Mike --

I actually think the Morgan Freeman voiceover on Robot Chicken was actually Morgan Freeman; I know he had supplied his voice for another Robot Chicken episode before

You've been taken, TV Squad. It is a very good impersonator. There is no way that either Freeman or the news division at CBS would allow such remarks to be aired anywhere if they were authentic.
