Weight Watchers suing Jenny Craig over Valerie Bertinelli commercial

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 20th 2010 5:00PM
If you haven't seen the recent Jenny Craig commercial that features Valerie Bertinelli in a lab, wearing an official-looking lab coat and touting the benefits of Jenny Craig over "the largest weight loss program" (wink wink), here it is. Weight Watchers is suing Jenny Craig for what they say is bogus medical information in the ad.

I hate ads that show someone in a lab coat or standing in front of a bunch of books. Ooooo, he's in front of a bookcase, he must know what he's talking about!

Are you people retarded? Who cares that she's in a lab coat, do you REALLY think that it's suppose to mean she's speaking from a medical/scientific standpoint? LOL!
It's just a friggin' commercial, don't take it so literal.

As a scientist, I do find offense at this because as Weight Watchers contends, there is no such "clinical trial". There is, however, clinical trials that point to Weight Watchers as one of the most successful weight loss programs because they do not rely on packaged foods AND they have a maintenance program that teaches their members how to live in the real world.

She's in a lab coat because she has gained back some of the weight. If you have seen her on tv lately. Her bottom is wide unlike the bikini commercial. Plus she's still riding her one great claim to fame by announcing on every show she "WAS" married to Eddie Van Halen and had his ugly child.

i don't particually like Valerie being displayed in a lab coat...for what reason? she is not a doctor? However, Jenny Craig's program is the best weight management program out there by far..as a client, it proved itself...I do not need this commerical or any commerical to show me. A combination of the portion controlled food and personal guidance, if you want to lose and you are serious about it....YOU WILL LOSE!!!!
