Like 'Family Guy,' the Seth McFarlane-created franchise that skewers pop culture and politics -- and on which Green plays screechy adolescent Chris Griffin -- 'Robot Chicken' aims its own pokey barbs at mass culture, along with well-known TV shows and movies.

Actually, there are more ties between the two shows than meets the eye: 'Robot Chicken' has produced two specials sending up the 'Star Wars' saga, and so has 'Family Guy.' Both shows aren't above potshots, either; one 'Family Guy' episode hurled two of its characters into a 'Robot Chicken' universe. And both shows were nominated for Emmys last year --'Robot Chicken' for outstanding animated program, 'Family Guy' for outstanding comedy series.

Season 4 of 'Robot Chicken' recently wrapped up in December. No word yet on when season 5 will premiere.
